Position Title: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

Georgia Emergency Associates’ (GEA) Immediate Care Centers provide urgent care medicine and occupational medicine services at convenient times, in convenient locations and in a comfortable environment. GEA opened its first Immediate Care Center in Savannah, Georgia in 2001. Today GEA operates St. Joseph’s/Candler Immediate Care clinics across south Georgia in Savannah, Pooler, Hinesville and in the South Carolina Lowcountry in Bluffton. GEA also operates South Georgia Immediate Care in Statesboro, GA.  The Immediate Care Centers are open evenings and weekends and are staffed by physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, licensed nurses, registered radiographic technologists, medical assistants and administrative support staff. The position reports to the Medical Director.

Job Summary/Objective:
Provides urgent care medicine and occupational medicine services, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and educating patients. Works closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient care.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Assesses patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews; assessing presenting illness, risk factors, and family history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors; and performing appropriate physical examination.
Orders/performs appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests. Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with physicians and other clinicians, for evaluation of illness. Integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risks.
Alone or in collaboration with a physician, develops and implements treatment plan by prescribing/dispensing medications and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws. Proficient in performing procedure, such as minor lacerations repairs, abscess drainage and splinting. Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments. Educates patients regarding health promotion/illness prevention. Recommends appropriate community resources to meet patient/family needs. Communicates appropriate case management information to other professionals and community agencies. Prepares documentation for medical records including updating patient medical chart by posting examination and test results, diagnosis, medications, and treatment in written/computerized manner.
Acts as consultant/collaborator to clinical team on area of specialty. Complies with patient confidentiality requirements. Promotes patient advocacy.
Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patient. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between visits according to treatment plan including triaging patient calls/e-mails. Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to Federal guidelines and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications - Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners:
Board Certification

State license

DEA

ACLS

Prefer FMCSA certification.

Position Title: Patient Service Representative

Job Summary
The Patient Service Representative is responsible for greeting patients and ensuring that the patient completes the sign in sheet.  Locates the patient in the practice management system or adds new patient information to the system.  Update the system for existing patients for any changes in address, telephone number, name, and insurance carrier.  Collect co-payments and/or deductibles and past due balances from patients.  Completes patient files, scan information into the EMR, place patient on EMR tracking board to be seen.  The position reports to the Clinic Manager

Minimum Qualifications:
Willing to work 12 hour shifts (full-time), weekends or holidays if necessary.
Must be willing to work at multiple centers, as needed
Must have knowledge of medical terminology
Strong interpersonal/customer service skills; must be able to communicate well with wide variety of individuals within the organization and work well in a team based environment.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to break down work effort, estimate time and manage to critical path.
Strong organizational skills; including the ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple takes; strong attention to details.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to research, interpret, and report on complex data.

Complete monthly and specialty compliance training as assigned.

Position Title: Medical Assistant

Job Summary
The Medical Assistant prepares patient for physician’s visit, shows patient to room or treatment area, takes vital signs, and documents the patient’s reason for the office visit.  Provide direct and indirect patient care and follow-up in support of and under the direction of the providers. The position reports to the Clinic Manager

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a Certified Medical Assistant or a Registered Medical Assistant.  Certified EMT can be substituted for Medical Assistant Certification, provided the employee is also qualified on all job duties for a Medical Assistant.

Must be able to calculate medication dosages with accuracy.

Administer injections and medications.

Perform a variety of clinical tests according to clinical and federal guidelines.

PPD placement and reading.

Phlebotomy and use of lab equipment per company protocols.

Perform X-rays in accordance with clinic policy (can only be performed by RT in South Carolina).
Computer skills and knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Must maintain a current CPR certification and be trained in OSHA/HIPAA compliance.
Must be willing to work 12 hour shifts, weekends and holidays.

Position Title: X-Ray Technologist

Job Summary

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for operating x-ray equipment that assists radiologists and/or physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury. The position reports to the Clinic Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

Position requires a 2 year degree in Radiographic Technology and current licensure.

Computer skills and knowledge of basic medical terminology.

Must possess a current CPR certification and be trained in OSHA/HIPAA compliance.

Must be willing to work 12 hours shifts, weekends and holidays.

Must be willing to work with other centers to coordinate staff at other locations.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, along with proper telephone etiquette.

Performs in a tactful and professional manner.

Tech II requires Certification in Radiologic Technology.

Triage patients to obtain vitals, chief complaint and past medical history and enter into electronic medical record.

Administer injections and medications according to protocols.

Calculate medication dosages accurately.

Phlebotomy and use of lab equipment per company protocols.

Position Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Summary

The Incumbent is responsible for preparing the patient for physician’s visit, show patient to room or treatment area, takes vital signs, calls in prescription refills, collects specimens as ordered by the physician, administers medications as ordered by the physician, and performs venipunctures, injections, IVs, and labs as needed. The position reports to the Clinic Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.

Must have a valid Practical Nurse licensure in Georgia.

Must maintain CPR certification.

Must be willing to work 12 hour shifts, weekends and holidays

Must be willing to work with other centers to coordinate staff at other locations.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, along with proper telephone etiquette.

Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.

Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
